Today is #MommyMonday! #HipNJ decided, with the help of our friends over at NJ Family, to make a list of cool things to do this summer with your little ones! We also included a “me time” activity you can do, while the kids are out with Dad!
This past weekend, and a first ever for New Jersey, an inflatable water park opened up in Ocean County! The water park, which resides on Lake Barnegat in Lacey, will include super fun obstacles, monkey bars, balance beams and more!
Lacey beach badge holders can hop on for the rate of $10 an hour, while non-residents will be charged $15. The park is available for kiddies ages 8 & up and life jackets will be provided, along with four lifeguards consistently on duty! It will be open 7 days a week, from noon to 4pm.
What is summer without visiting the Liberty Science Center for some awesome activities, shows and exhibits? Last weekend, the center opened up a neat exhibit of colorful animals made of LEGO’s! Some of the almost life-like displays include polar bears, chameleons, a Venus fly trap and more!
Sean Kenney’s Art Made with LEGO Blocks features not only beautiful displays of endangered animals, but also facts about their conservation and the effects of humans to their habitats. After looking all 26 displays, kids (and parents) can mosey their way over to the free-form brick area and make their own creations! The exhibit runs until Labor Day so definitely make a pit stop there this summer!
Want to spend more time in the wilderness and do something a little more enchanting? Take a trip to the South Mountain reservation to find the little fairies taking up residence in the woods. Locals have made “homes” for the tiny creatures, nestled in tree stumps and between branches for this Fairy walk! Keep an eye out for ladders, little doors and furniture to see where our nymph friends live! This walk is perfect for lovers of all things mystical, no matter how old!
Got the day off from the kiddos and ready to decompress? Peek at the list of all the New Jersey wineries with open tap rooms here, to visit with your momma friends! Check out other activities NJ family recommends on their site!
