Knit Crochet with Lovewas formed in November 2016 one cold winter afternoon when Richa Gupta and Sudha Pai started talking about their passion for knitting and on a whim decided to form a group to make caps for the cancer society. They created a 501(c)3 and have donated over 4200 caps and 35 blankets to various cancer centers like Memorial Sloan Kettering, Trinitas, RWJ, Morristown Memorial, Procure Center, Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle, Dana Faber in Boston.
Making the hand-knit caps gives members an opportunity to fulfill their desire to serve the community. Members of Knit Crochet with Love make a $25 yearly donation. This covers the cost of as many skeins of yarn the member would like to have. There are guidelines for creating the caps that include the type of yarn. This makes it easy to knit as many caps as you’d like with little expense for the yarn. This is an exciting addition to Knit Night. We will still be working on our own projects as the caps don’t take that long to knit once you get the hang of it.
