As part of its 100th anniversary celebration in 2019, Easterseals New Jersey is creating a space for conversation and engagement surrounding the topic of disability and encouraging locals to step outside of their typical daily experience and see life, literally, through a new lens. These engagements can be a powerful tool in removing the stigma surrounding disability. The goal is to encourage understanding and awareness so that we can work together and make New Jersey most accessible for all.
Attendees will be walked through short experience-based activities to learn more about disability, such as:
• Make art at a limited mobility station
• Converse through lip reading exercises
• Experience schizophrenia and depression
• Undergo what it’s like to have vision loss
Easterseals NJ will be one of the vendors at the Festival at the Borough in Washington, NJ on September 14th, where these activities will take place.
